Settings

Vault settings holds the few settings that apply to every document in your vault. Open it from the three dots next to the vault's name in the sidebar, or with Settings… in the app's menu (Cmd+, on a Mac, Ctrl+, on Windows).

Setting	What it does
Title	The name shown in the sidebar and in the window's title. Left empty, the folder's name is used
Default theme	The look of your documents, picked from the built-in theme and any others in the vault. A document can still choose its own
Page size	A4 or Letter, for PDFs and the paginated layout. The theme's leaves the choice to the theme
Default layout	Whether a document opens as one continuous page or laid out in pages
"Made with Plicine" line	The one line at the end of PDFs. It's on to begin with and free to turn off; see The credit line
Public URL	If a copy of your vault is published on a website, its address. PDFs then end with a link and a QR code to the same page there. Most people leave it empty
Write AGENTS.md	Keeps a briefing file in the folder for an AI agent that you run from a terminal. Leave it off unless you use one; Working with an AI agent explains it

There's no Save button. A switch or a list saves as you change it, and Title and Public URL save when you press Enter or click somewhere else. The document you have open picks the change up straight away.

The settings are saved inside the folder, so they travel with it: everyone who shares the vault gets the same theme and page size.

For technical readers: the settings live in a small file you can also edit by hand, along with a few settings the screen doesn't show. vault.json and frontmatter lists all of them.
